Improving Law Enforcement Response to Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence by Identifying and Preventing Gender Bias

Publication Date: May 2022

In 2022, the Department of Justice released updated guidance on the publication "Improving Law Enforcement Response to Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence by Identifying and Preventing Gender Bias." In this guidance, the design helps law enforcement agencies recognize, lessen, and prevent gender bias and other bias from interfering with the response to, and investigation of, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of gender-based violence. This guidance provides a set of eight basic principles that help ensure that gender bias does not hinder efforts to keep victims and survivors safe and hold offenders accountable.
